Husband, father and grandfather, Councillor Dave Penney has been a resident of Ignace for over 50 years and has occupied offices in conservation, resource planning and management.
Serving the community has always been Dave’s passion. This is evident in his involvement and the prominent positions he has held in countless organizations and committees including the Boy Scouts, Curling Club, Golf Course and Country Club, Royal Canadian Legion, Kinsmen Club and Minor Hockey Association.
Dave was a long-standing member of the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board (KDSB), which covers an area from Upsala to the Manitoba boarder to Red Lake, Pickle Lake and Sioux Narrows. With a total of thirty-three (33) years on the current board as well as its predecessor, Dryden Board of Education, Dave occupied the position of Chair, Vice- Chair and Trustee throughout his tenure.
Dave is proud of Ignace’s pristine, natural beauty that’s perfectly complemented by its warm and welcoming people. He is excited that sustainable tourism development is now a key priority for the Township and is excited to put Ignace on the map as a premier tourist destination.
