Over the course of the next few months, the Ignace Sports and Recreation Centre will have disrupted schedules due to much-required repairs and enhancements.  These repairs and enhancements will last well into the summer months.  The Township is currently out to tender with contractors to determine level of work enhancements and schedules required for the repairs.

The work and costs that will be conducted on the Recreation Centre included the transfer of $935,550 to the Township of Ignace from the Ministry Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund, last year.  The government’s investments in new and essential facilities, like ours, will increase access to sport and recreation, create jobs and foster healthier and more active lifestyles for families in Ignace.

The Township of Ignace will accommodate the Otter Days Hockey Tournament during the summer, but other events and activities could see delayed or cancelled schedules during the repairs and enhancements. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause for local groups during this time. Our intention is to ensure that the Township continues to invest alongside its government partners and stakeholders in critical infrastructure and capital asset programs for this community.
