The Ignace Fire Department would like to remind all property owners of fire exit maintenance.

The Ontario Fire Code requires that all fire exits remain unobstructed at all times. Property owners need to make sure all exits, stairways and escape routes are shovelled and de-iced in the winter. 

Winter conditions can turn a fire emergency into a more perilous situation.  By maintaining clear escape routes, preventing ice buildup, and updating fire escape plans, individuals and property owners can significantly improve fire safety in winter conditions.

The Ontario Fire Code and NFPA emphasize the importance of maintaining clear and accessible escape routes year-round.
