Maximizing economic and growth opportunities in the Township of Ignace
Government of Canada invests to create economic roadmap for the community

August 16, 2019 – Township of Ignace, ON — Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario — FedNor

Families and businesses in the Township of Ignace will benefit from future job creation, long-term growth and a strong economic outlook, thanks to a Government of Canada investment of $94,500. This targeted FedNor funding will enable the community to develop an investment and capacity-building master plan.

The Honourable Bob Nault, Member of Parliament for Kenora, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor.

Identified as a local priory, the master plan will outline a vision and long-term economic strategy for the community. Specifically, FedNor funding will support the three key components of the master plan, which include developing and implementing economic development and tourism strategies, as well as completing a community capacity study. Once complete, the initiative will provide the township with the planning tools and tactics needed to attract private sector investments and businesses to the area, while creating jobs, enhancing tourism and maximizing social, economic and growth opportunities in the community.
