Circular Materials to roll out new curbside residential recycling program in Ignace
Residents can pre-select a smaller or additional cart between September 22 and October 9, 2026
For immediate release – September 22, 2026 – Beginning in late November, residents of Ignace will see the introduction of a new residential recycling program, including the use of an automated curbside recycling cart system. The new program will provide residents with a convenient single-cart system for recycling all accepted materials. Recycling collection will be collected on the same day as residents’ garbage pick-up; however, recycling collection will occur every other week.
New recycling carts will be delivered to homes beginning in late October, in advance of the program launch. Residents will automatically receive a 360-Litre cart for their use. If a 360-Litre cart does not meet their recycling needs, residents can pre-select a smaller or additional recycling cart by October 9, 2026, by visiting the community website at Ignace | Circular Materials | Ontario.
“We are pleased to welcome this new curbside recycling program to Ignace, giving residents a convenient and reliable way to recycle at home,” said Mayor Kim Baigrie. “We are happy to be working with Circular Materials on the provincial Blue Box program as this will make it easier for our community to divert more material from our landfill and support a cleaner, more sustainable future for Ignace and the Province.”

Pour diffusion immédiate – Le 22 septembre 2026 – À partir de la fin novembre, les résidents d’Ignace connaîtront un nouveau programme de recyclage résidentiel, incluant l’utilisation d’un système automatisé de collecte des bacs de recyclage en bordure de rue. Ce nouveau programme offrira aux résidents un système pratique à bac unique pour recycler toutes les matières recyclables acceptées. Home Cultivation
The Cannabis Act allows for individuals to cultivate up to four legal cannabis plants per residence (not per individual in the residence) anywhere on their property. It does however contain a general prohibition on cultivation for anyone under 19.
Seeds can be purchased legally from an Ontario Cannabis Store.
Thinking about growing your own cannabis at home?
In order to grow cannabis responsibly at home there are some health and safety considerations to be aware of:
- Relevant legislation such as building and fire codes as well as the Residential Tenancies Act
- Access and unintended poisoning
- Indoor air quality
- Use of pesticides and other products
- Electrical and fire hazards, and
- Exposure to UV light
Driving, Cycling and Cannabis Use
Drug impaired driving is illegal in Canada and remains illegal after cannabis is legalized and regulated.
- Don’t drive impaired
- Don’t get into a car with someone driving impaired
- Plan a safe ride home (use public transit, use a designated driver, call someone for a ride, cab or rideshare, stay over)
- Start a conversation about cannabis and driving - it could save lives
Cannabis and Health Effects
Cannabis can be harmful to mental and physical health, especially if someone uses:
- While under the age of 25
- Often, daily or near daily use
- With other drugs, like tobacco or alcohol
- High THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) strains
- While pregnant or breastfeeding
- While operating a motor-vehicle
