Water Conservation Notice

WATER CONSERVATION NOTICE

September 4, 2018
 
As a result of a low water level in Kekwanzik (Michel) Lake, the Township of Ignace and Northern Waterworks Inc. are encouraging all residents connected to the municipal supply to implement day-to-day water conservation measures. As the source water for the Ignace Drinking Water System, the water level in Kekwanzik Lake is at a historic low and has recently fallen below a critical minimum value.

Payments at the Municipal Office

Effective Friday, August 10, 2018 the Township of Ignace will no longer accept Visa Credit/Debit or Master Card Credit payments at the Municipal Office. This measure was passed during the adoption of the 2018 Budget at the recent Council Meeting held on Monday, July 9, 2018. 

Acceptable payments at the Municipal Office will now be cash, Interact/Debit, cheques and Pre-Authorized debit only.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, please note that the Public Works Department must turn off your water service at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. Service will be returned as soon as possible.

In advance of this water service interruption, residents are asked to store enough water for use during the shutdown period. And, as a precautionary measure, turn off your hot water tank.

After water service is restored, some residents may experience temporary discoloured water. Running your cold-water lines will clear the water.

The launch of Ignace's new Brand and Marketing plan has been feautured in the area's local media.  

On July 8, Economic Development Manager Jason Felix and Chief Administrative Officer Marshalina Reader were featured on the radio program, "Northwest Monitor".  To hear what they had to say listen to the audio broadcast.

Concerning a Proposed Community Improvement Project Area and Community Improvement Plan

TAKE NOTICE that, in accordance with Section 28 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended, the Township of Ignace will hold a Public Meeting on August 13th 2018, at 6pm at the Silver Tops Senior Center, to consider a Community Improvement Project Area and Community Improvement Plan (CIP).

THE PURPOSE AND EFFECT of the proposed Community Improvement Plan is to support and promote the continued revitalization, redevelopment, and enhancement of the Township of Ignace. The proposed Community Improvement Project Area and CIP will provide a set of incentive programs to support this growth and development for the Township of Ignace.

THE SUBJECT LANDS encompass the entire Settlement Area of the Township of Ignace, as identified in the Official Plan for the Township of Ignace, as indicated in the key map. The CIP document is available for review at www.ignace.ca, and in hard copy at the Township Municipal Office (34 Main Street), and Ignace Public Library (36 Main Street).

ANY PERSON may attend the Public Meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed Community Improvement Project Area and CIP.
